Key Stage 3

In year 7, as part of the DT rotation, we have 13 weeks to study our 2 topics.

The first topic is all about what components are used within a computer and their purpose, such as the CPU, RAM/ ROM and secondary storage.

Our second topic is programming, where we will use the skills of sequence, selection and iteration to build solutions to problems using Microbits.

Assessment:

We will complete a Microsoft forms assessment at the end of the 13-week rotation.

In year 8, as part of the DT rotation, we have 13 weeks to study our 2 topics.

The first topic builds on the first topic studied in year 7 and understand how the computer will process all data using binary. We will convert numbers to binary, be able to add/shift binary numbers as well as understand how computers store and process characters, images and sound.

Our second topic is programming, where we will use the skills of sequence, selection and iteration to build solutions to problems using Python Turtle.

Assessment:

We will complete a Microsoft forms assessment at the end of the 13-week rotation.

In year 9, as part of the DT rotation, we have 13 weeks to study our 2 topics.

The first topic is understanding all the different types of cyber attacks that can happen to computer systems and how we can prevent them.

Our second topic is programming, where we will use the skills of sequence, selection and iteration to build solutions to problems using Python Turtle.

Assessment:

We will complete a Microsoft forms assessment at the end of the 13-week rotation.
