Key Stage 4

OCR Computer Science:

Unit 1 – Computer Systems – 1 hour 30 minutes

Unit 2 – Algorithms and Programming – 1 hour 30 minutes

Computer Science is engaging and practical, encouraging creativity and problem-solving. It encourages students to develop their understanding and application of the core concepts in computer science. Students also analyse problems in computational terms and devise creative solutions by designing, writing, testing and evaluating programs.

Assessment:

We assess each topic with an assessment after studying it to check our understanding. At the end of the year, we will complete a full paper (both unit 1 and 2) to help us be able to know our stronger and weaker areas.

Homework:

This will be set using smart revise where students will practise content using multiple-choice questions and keywords/definitions. I will also issue a programming task homework where students will need to problem-solve to build a logical coded solution to a problem.

OCR Creative iMedia:

R093 - Creative iMedia in the media industry – Exam - 1 hour 30 minutes

R094 - Visual identity and digital graphics – Non-Exam Assessment

R097 - Interactive digital media – non-Exam Assessment

Creative iMedia will inspire and equip students with the confidence to use skills that are relevant to the digital media sector and more widely. They’ll design, plan, create and review digital media products to meet client and target audience demands.

Assessment:

Students will be assessed on each of the topic areas of the exam unit after studying each one. Students will complete a full past paper for the exam at the end of the year.
