EXAM BOARD: OCR CAMBRIDGE NATIONAL
Year 10 students complete the Performance and Leadership Unit. Students will complete several practical and written assignments that will allow them to develop in both performance skills and leadership skills. This represents 40% of the final grade.
The assignments include tasks such as:
- Leading a session, they have planned and organised.
- Creating performance logs in their chosen 2 sports.
- Evaluating their performances in both Leadership and Performance.
- Creating practices to improve their performance.
Students will also begin to explore Outdoor and Adventurous Activities in preparation for Year 11.

Year 11 students complete the Outdoor and Adventurous Activities (OAA) unit and an exam unit called Contemporary Issues in Sport.
The assignments include:
- Written reports on the types and benefits of OAA
- How to plan and deliver an OAA.
- Performance in OAA activities
- Evaluation of performance in OAA
The Contemporary Issues exam unit includes four Learning outcomes. Understand topical and contemporary issues in sport, including why people do and do not participate in sport, the promotion of ethics and values, the roles of National Governing Bodies and high-profile events have in sport, as well as how technology is used within sport.
Assessment:
Coursework is internally moderated and externally assessed.
Learners will also sit a 75-minute exam paper in the summer term of Year 11.
A final grade is achieved upon completion of the course:
- Level 2 Pass which is equivalent to a Grade 4 at GCSE.
- Level 2 Merit which is equivalent to a Grade 5 at GCSE.
- Level 2 Distinction which is equivalent to a Grade 7 at GCSE.
- Level 2 Distinction* (star), which is equivalent to a Grade 8 or 9 at GCSE.
