Key Stage 4

3D Art

Exam board: OCR

The OCR 3D Art course offers students the opportunity to explore the world of three-dimensional art through a blend of practical creation and conceptual development. This course allows students to engage with various materials, processes, and techniques to produce dynamic and innovative 3D products and accompanying portfolio.

The OCR 3D Art course focusses on helping students develop both their artistic and technical abilities in creating three-dimensional pieces. Students will explore a range of materials such as clay, metal, wood, plastic, wire, and modern media, as well as learn how to integrate technology, like 3D printing, laser cutting and digital modelling, into their work. The course encourages students to investigate the cultural, historical, and contemporary contexts of 3D art and to understand its significance in society. The work will all be based around one significant theme of our choice, such as Natural Form.

Assessment:

OCR 3D Art is assessed through two main components, combining portfolio-based assessment and an externally set assignment.

Homework:

Activities that embed the skills for assessment objectives; develop, refine, record and present.

Design and Technology

Exam board: AQA

Exam papers: Paper 1 – 2hrs

The AQA GCSE Design and Technology course covers a broad spectrum of design and technology concepts. Students are introduced to a range of materials, tools, and manufacturing processes, as well as design principles. The focus is on developing students' ability to think critically, solve problems, and produce effective and innovative solutions.

The course includes both theoretical knowledge and practical work, culminating in a design and make project that allows students to apply what they’ve learned in a hands-on way.

Assessment:

The AQA GCSE Design and Technology course is assessed through two main components: a written exam and a Non-Examined Assessment (NEA).

Homework:

Exam preparation and NEA preparation activities.
