Year 8 TEAM Week Monday 18th-Friday 22nd July

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to provide you with more information about our TEAM week, which we are really excited to be able to offer as we know how much students have missed Curriculum enhancement. The Curriculum will be collapsed, and all Year 8 students will follow the same programme giving them the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom and to further develop our school TEAM values.

Students will line up and register as normal each day and all activities will run within school hours, meaning normal transport arrangements. When students are in school, they will be able to access the canteen as normal, when on trips they will need to bring a packed lunch, packed lunches will be provided for FSM students. Students will need to ensure they are prepared for all eventualities, bringing a waterproof jacket and sunblock as well as plenty to drink. They should not bring valuables; school cannot be responsible for these. I have included the outline for the week below:

Activities-All in school hours.   Students line up and register as normal.   We will be using Tamar Coaches.   Students will be with their tutors.  Tenacity   Enterprise Day-The day will start with Real Ideas Organisation Presenting on Jobs in the Creative Industry. Students to create solutions and present these in tutor group teams.   Uniform to be worn.    Aspiration Falmouth University trip, students learning about university life and trialling some University activities/ Sessions.   Uniform to be worn.        Empathy Be Kind Day   Including a carousel of sessions where students will take part in Mindfulness activities, creating acts of Kindness, Confidence games as well Sports.   Suitable PE clothing.        Motivation Woodlands Day trip.   The benefits of putting yourself out of your comfort zone and having fun.   Why enjoyment is crucial to wellbeing.   Suitable own clothes.        TEAM Subject day-led by our Geography, and The Modern Language Department.   Students having the opportunity to develop their skills in these subjects outside of their lessons.   Suitable own clothes.

We will write to you nearer the time with more specific details and arrangements, in the meantime should you have any further questions please email myself at egue@saltashcloud.net or Head of Year emetters@saltashcloud.net. We have tried to keep the costs of activities and trips to a minimum and have subsidised these, however, we are requesting a £25 voluntary contribution. This will be on ParentPay, if we do not receive enough contributions then the external trips might not be able to run, we really hope that this will not be the case.
