Christmas Carol service

St. Stephen’s Church once again hosted the annual Year 7 Christmas Carol Concert on the last day of the Autumn Term, Friday 16th December.

The service was full to capacity with members of the school community.

Organised by the school’s Performing Arts department, the concert ensured that all at really got into the Christmas spirit.

Those in attendance sang congregational carols and enjoyed Christmas themed readings.

Following a number of readings from both students and staff, Year 7 sang four items: Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Good King Wenceslas, Once in Royal David’s City, and ended with a rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

The Year 7 choir sang ‘O Tannenbaum’, ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’ and ‘Away in a Manger’, featuring a solo performance from Becky Evans.

In a surprise performance, a number of Year 7 students, led by Emily Lambert in Year 11 planned and choreographed a rendition of ‘So Long Farewell..’ from the Sound Of Music, as a moving farewell to Mrs Bryce.

The service ended with a farewell from Head of Year 7 Mr Taylor, who reflected on how far the Year 7s have come in just one term.

There was a retiring collection, with donations going to St Stephens Church.

Thanks go to St Stephen’s Church and the Reverend Michelle Parkman, also to the organist, Reverend Tim Parkman.
