students go to Germany and come back Kinder

Posted by on Nov 21, 2018 in News | No Comments students taking part in the German Exchange week enjoyed an action-packed week of activities and new experiences when they visited their friends from Wilhelm Busch Gymnasium (Gymnasium = school) in Stadthagen last month.

The trip saw students enjoy all that Stadthagen and the surrounding areas had to offer, including trips to Marienborn to see the old east-west crossing point in Germany, to Wolfsburg for its VW factory museum, to Berlin for its cultural and historical sights, and to the famous theme park Heide Park for an adrenalin rush!

The trip gave the students an opportunity to explore another culture and to work hard on their German. Students enjoyed gaining a better understanding of the language through staying with their host families who returned the favour after students from Wilhelm Busch Gymnasium visited Saltash in September. The students noted the cultural differences between England and Germany; whether it be that they drive on the other side of the road, the difference in house sizes, or that our German friends have a greater variety of Haribo choices to pick from!

As TEAM Saltash left Stadthagen, they made sure to leave a note in the school’s guestbook, thanking them for their hospitality and friendship, and looking forward to many more years of Wilhelm Busch exchanges!

A huge thank you to all who make the German Exchange such a success each year.
