Magical Musical!

There was a magical transformation of the school hall in to an Arabian bazaar in aid of the Key Stage 2 & 3 musical from 12 to 14 June.

Disney’s version of Aladdin was the show, and audiences were treated to an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza of well-known songs and fantastic performances from the young cast.  A flying carpet and UV special effects all added to the spectacle.

Students from Key Stage 3 at performed alongside Year 5 and 6 students from the partner primary schools of Landulph, Sir Robert Geffery’s, Bishop Cornish, St Stephens and Burraton.  Part of the success of the show comes from the students forming strong friendships with one-another, despite age differences.

Since January the students had been rehearsing after school 2 to 3 times a week, and even gave up a day of their half term for rehearsals.

Feedback from audiences was extremely positive, with one Year 5 student’s parents commenting: “She was so excited to be in the show and has loved the rehearsals. She describes taking part in the show as awesome! We are so grateful she had the opportunity. We loved watching the shows – you could see how happy the children were to be in it and there was a real buzz.”

A huge “Well done!” to all of the students involved for making it such a fantastic show.

Special thanks must go to Kellie Alders for her technical expertise and Karen Snowdon for her hard work on costumes.
