Post-16 Transport Policy consultation

To Parents/Carers of Year 11 and Year 12 students

Cornwall Council is responsible for the provision of school transport for students in Cornwall. At Post-16, the transport provided is no longer free and Cornwall Council subsidises transport for those students who require access to it.

Cornwall Council’s Post-16 Transport Policy sets out how and when the Council provides subsidised transport for young people aged 16-19 to attend school, college or another education establishment.

The Council is consulting on a number of potential changes to this policy which would come into effect from either September 2017 or September 2018.

The consultation will run from Friday 3 February 2017 until Friday 17 March 2017 and everyone is welcome to give their views. The consultation paper and details of how interested parties can give their views on the proposed changes can be found at http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/education-and-learning/schools-and-colleges/post-16-transport/post-16-transport-consultation/

If your child is in Year 12 or is in Year 11 and is considering attending 6th Form in September 2017, and will require access to the transport that is provided by Cornwall Council, you may like to read and respond to the consultation paper.
