Plymouth Raiders star Zak Wells talks to students

To celebrate World Book Day, welcomed players from Plymouth Argyle and Plymouth Raiders into school to inspire students and act as reading role models for them.

Sixty students that attend the school’s basketball club and represent the school’s football teams were invited into the library to enjoy a book quiz, before being joined by Plymouth Argyle’s Luke McCormick and Robbert Te Loeke and Zak Wells, Eddie Matthew, Will Neighbour and Stefan Djukic from Plymouth Raiders.

The players spoke about their life journey, and how valuable reading and studying have been for them, before moving around the room for a Q and A session and to discuss books students had chosen from the library.

The players talked to the students about what they enjoyed to read and their own experiences of school life and studying, as well as the grit and resilience required to get to where they wanted to be. Following this, the players were more than happy to pose for a few selfies, which the students (and some staff members) were very keen to take!

Thank you to the players and their clubs for coming in to inspire our young people.
