Saltash Community School Recognised as a Compassionate School by St Luke’s Hospice
Saltash Community School have recently received an acknowledgement from St Luke’s Hospice for meeting the criteria as a Compassionate School. This recognition underscores the school's commitment to supporting students dealing with bereavement, fostering a caring and empathetic environment.
Representatives from St Luke’s Hospice visited us to present the certificate, marking a significant achievement for the entire school community.
The certification not only acknowledges the existing support systems within the school, but also highlights the presence of a number of trained staff members ready to assist students in need. Looking ahead, we are gearing up for the next phase of our compassionate initiative. The school plans to train students interested in becoming Compassionate Buddies, a program aimed at enabling students to support each other during difficult times. This innovative approach recognises the importance of peer support and aims to create a network of compassionate individuals within the student body.
More details about the Compassionate Buddies program will be communicated to the school community in the near future. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to not only meet the immediate needs of grieving students, but also to empower them to support one another in times of difficulty.
