GCSEs for adults!

Following a survey of Year 9 parents/carers, we have been busy working with Cornwall Adult Learning to offer GCSE courses in English and Maths for our parents/carers. We are pleased to announce that these are now available from September 2019 – July 2020 and may be free if you meet the eligible criteria. The classes will take place in the evenings on our school site and run weekly throughout the academic year. We think this is a fantastic opportunity to learn alongside your child; you can both support each other in your GCSE study. We’re also looking at how we can develop revision sessions for both students and parents to work alongside each other. English Language will be run on a Thursday from 6-9pm; Maths on a Wednesday from 6-9pm.

Cornwall Adult Learning website states:
This is a one-year intensive course leading to the new GCSE qualification, with the examining body AQA. The course will involve between 96 and 120 hours of taught time (depending on which subject you choose); additional sessions may be offered and these will agreed in advance with your course tutor. This course may be available free of charge if you haven’t previously achieved a grade 4-9 (or A* to C) for the relevant subject. Please note: this course will require regular attendance, a high level of commitment and at least 3 hours of home study per week, as set by the tutor.
