The much anticipated Just Jones & Theatre Company’s production of Ibsen’s ‘An Enemy of the People’ came to saltash.net community school last week and certainly did not disappoint.  Playing to full houses on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th October, Just Jones presented a unique and memorable theatre experience which included some cameo performances by staff, students and local community representatives as part of the chorus.

The play had been specially adapted by produced Rebecca Manson Jones to reflect local issues of relevance to a Cornish audience.  Set in the present day, in a small fictional community in Cornwall named ‘Porth Kregg’, the play invites its audience members to consider a number of ethical issues and moral dilemmas before taking part in a live vote which affects the way the ending of the play is delivered.

In addition to the two evening performances, Just Jones also presented the play to all of Years 9 and 10 at saltash.net during the day on the 9th October, prompting much debate and discussion amongst the students afterwards.

Head of Drama, Jo Loyn, who arranged the visit of the theatre company said, “It was an invaluable and extremely rewarding experience for both audience and participants to be able to watch and work with a professional cast and company of such quality.’

Year 13 student, Jamie Pullan tweeted before the show ‘Absolutely star struck at the brilliant talent of the actors I’m working with on ‘An Enemy of the People’.
