Teaching groups are set according to ability in English, Maths and Science from the beginning of

Year 7.  Language groups are set according to ability in Years 8 and 9.  All other subjects are taught in mixed ability classes, with the exception of DT.

In Year 7 Integrated Learning forms a substantial part of curriculum time. This provides all students with the opportunity to develop learning skills within an enquiry-based framework. It is a key part of our intention to ensure that all of our students develop the skills and qualities to become successful learners, as well as to smooth the transition into secondary education for them as they move from our partner primary schools. This is extended into Year 8, where the main aim is for individual students to ensure that they continue to develop their learning skills by formulating and following their own individual education plans.
