10th Anniversary of the Saltash Live at Home scheme

At the end of the summer term, saltash.net was delighted to host a tea party to remember to help celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Saltash Live at Home scheme.

Around a hundred guests, including Saltash’s Mayor and Mayoress, were invited to attend the event which was organised by the Live at Home Coordinator, Gail Lee, saltash.net’s Head Students Hannah Burtwell and Adam Riglar, and PA to the Headteacher, Mrs Jude Hollyman.

saltash.net’s GCSE catering team worked hard throughout the day of the party, preparing an excellent range of savoury and sweet dishes for the guests to enjoy.  Musical entertainment was also provided by the school’s GCSE and A Level students.  Writing in the recent Live at Home newsletter, Gail Lee said, “The students decorated the main hall of the school with bunting, balloons, flags and the younger students had undertaken some decorative art work which covered the walls depicting what the occasion was all about.  The tables were set out beautifully with white table cloths, old fashioned china and cake stands.  The students from Year 10, with the help of teaching staff, provided delicious savouries, sandwiches, cakes and biscuits and the cups of tea flowed.  It really was like having tea at Tiffany’s!  One young man played the piano beautifully and other students played and sang to us and kept us all thoroughly entertained.  It was very special to see older and younger people together; it meant an awful lot to all those who were able to be there.”

At the end of the afternoon, the Head Students presented representatives from the Scheme with a cheque for a £1,000 which they had raised over the course of the year.

saltash.net would like to thank St Mellion Golf and Country Club and Devon Vintage China for their support with this event.
